BC callers

How British Columbia calls differ

A BC business often covers a lot of ground. A roofer in the Lower Mainland, a plumber on Vancouver Island and a landscaper in the Okanagan have different seasons, but they share one problem: the phone rings while the crew is working.

The wet season is the busy stretch for many trades on the coast. Rain finds a weak roof, a clogged gutter or a flooded crawl space, and the calls come from people who want someone booked quickly. Dry months bring landscaping, painting and exterior work, and the interior has its own mix of wildfire-season and winter driving constraints.

Voxipo does not diagnose a leak or promise an arrival time. The agent collects the address, the problem and your approved details, books an open time and saves the call. Your staff decide what happens next.

  • Roofing, drainage and restoration work when the rain starts.
  • Landscaping, painting and exterior projects in the dry season.
  • Strata managers handling after-hours maintenance requests.
  • Clinics, dental offices and med spas where staff are with patients.

Area codes

BC area codes and time zones

The 604 area code covers the Lower Mainland and 250 covers the rest of the province, including Vancouver Island and the interior. The 778, 236 and 672 codes overlay both. Keep whichever number your customers already use. If you want a new line, search the marketplace by area code, and expect that a given code may not be available.

Most of BC is on Pacific time. Voxipo defaults to Eastern time when you choose Canada, and Pacific is selectable, so a BC workspace should pick Pacific. The East Kootenay is on Mountain time and changes its clocks like most of Canada. The Peace River region and Creston stay on Mountain Standard Time all year, which is the same clock as Pacific in summer and as Mountain in winter.

Voxipo estimates the caller's time zone from their number. Overlay numbers such as 778 are read as Pacific, so a 778 caller in the East Kootenay may be treated as Pacific. Check callbacks to Mountain-time areas with your staff instead of assuming the window is exact.

Stratas

Strata-managed buildings

Strata corporations hire managers who look after several buildings at once. Owners phone about water leaks, parkade gates, elevator faults and noise. Voxipo's agent can take the strata plan number, the unit and the problem, record the caller's phone number and write a summary for the manager.

The agent does not decide what is an emergency and does not contact a contractor. If your company has approved wording for a safety situation, you can put it in the agent's instructions. Your staff handle everything else.

Property teams can read how this works in more detail on the property teams page.

Steps

Setting up in British Columbia

  1. 01

    Choose Canada and Pacific time

Pick Canada at onboarding, then set the workspace time zone to Pacific. Your 14-day free trial starts when you create your first workspace, and no card is needed. During the trial you build the agent and talk to it in the browser. Connecting a phone number for live calls and callbacks needs a paid plan.

  2. 02

    Describe your service area

Tell the agent which cities, islands or regions you serve, so it can ask where the job is and gather an address.

  3. 03

    Forward unanswered calls

Ask your carrier for conditional forwarding on busy and no answer. Forward to your Voxipo answering number and the agent answers live, or forward to the missed-call number and Voxipo declines the call and calls the caller back. One forwarding number cannot do both, and your published number does not change.

  4. 04

    Connect a calendar

Link Google Calendar, Outlook, Cal.com or GoHighLevel so the agent books into open times on calls dialed to your Voxipo number.

  5. 05

    Set the callback delay

Choose how long Voxipo waits before calling a missed caller back, from 0 to 3,600 seconds. The default is 30.

Spread

Vancouver Island, the interior and callback timing

BC businesses often serve towns hours apart. Voxipo estimates the caller's time zone from their number and applies a callback window of 8am to 9pm in that zone. BC has Mountain-time areas, in the Peace River region, Creston and the East Kootenay, so ask your staff to check callbacks to callers there. A call missed outside the window gets no callback, and Voxipo places one callback, which can be delayed or missed when lines are busy.

Callbacks go to callers in Canada and the US. Nobody can call back a hidden number, and callers from outside the US and Canada need a manual follow-up from your team.

Language and privacy

Language, billing and privacy in BC

Voxipo makes no French-language claim, and the home-services templates cover English and Spanish. BC callers may also speak Punjabi, Mandarin, Cantonese or other languages, which are not covered by the templates either. Test the agent in the browser before you decide how to handle those calls.

Call recordings hold personal information. British Columbia has its own private-sector privacy law, which the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada describes as substantially similar to PIPEDA. Read your obligations before going live. This page is not legal advice, and Voxipo makes no data-residency or compliance promise here. Ask [email protected] if you need to know more. Health practices should also check British Columbia's health-information rules before recording patient calls.

Plans are priced in US dollars, starting at $49 a month, and your card issuer converts the charge to Canadian dollars.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep my 604 or 778 number?

Yes. Ask your carrier to set conditional forwarding for busy and no answer to your Voxipo missed-call number, and Voxipo calls missed callers back. You can also search the marketplace by area code, though availability is not guaranteed.

Which time zone should a BC workspace use?

Eastern time is the Canadian default, and Pacific is selectable. Most BC businesses should choose Pacific. Voxipo estimates each caller's time zone from their number, and staff should check callbacks to Mountain-time areas.

Does it work for strata management companies?

The agent can take unit details and a description of the problem and save a summary. Your staff decide urgency and contact contractors. One appointment is booked per time slot for the whole business.

Can it answer in French or Punjabi?

Voxipo makes no French-language claim, and the home-services templates cover English and Spanish only. Test the agent in the browser before relying on it for other languages.

How do I try it?

Choose Canada at onboarding and set the workspace time zone to Pacific. Your 14-day free trial starts when you create your first workspace, and no card is needed. During the trial you build the agent and talk to it in the browser. Connecting a phone number for live calls and callbacks needs a paid plan. Plans are priced in US dollars, from $49 a month.
